Le feu, avec l’eau, l’air et la terre, offre aux alchimistes l’opportunité de métamorphoser chaque élément. L’orfèvre Graziano Visintin interroge l’or, lumineuse et noble matière, en l’attaquant à la flamme, et en lui combinant différents émaux et nielle, ce mélange d’argent, de plomb, et de souffre liquéfié. Des fluides magmatiques envahissent la surface, révèlent la part d’ombre de ce soleil si radieux. Ils brisent ainsi la rigidité de géométries formelles très pures. Cette topologie vise plus à questionner un rapport à l’espace qu’à définir la spatialité des volumes. La morbidité du plomb fait ombre à la vivacité de l’or.

Issu de l’Ecole Pietro Selvatico de Padoue où il enseigne depuis trois décades, l’artiste reprend à son compte cette particularité de confronter le minimalisme formel à l’abstraction, et la géométrie à la chaleur des matériaux. Graziano Visintin est né à Pernumia en 1954, il vit et travaille à Padoue. Il a exposé en Europe, au Japon, aux Etats-Unis et en Australie. Il a à son actif plusieurs prix internationaux, ses œuvres font partie de nombreuses collections privées et publiques.

A l’invitation du département Design Bijou, Graziano Visintin donnera une conférence publique à la Haute école d’art et de design – Genève, le vendredi 25 novembre 2011 à 10h30, bd James-Fazy 15, 1201 Genève.

Using fire, water, air and earth, an alchemist may transform any element. The goldsmith Graziano Visintin experiments with gold, bright and noble material, by attacking it with flame and combining it with different enamels, and ‘nielle’, a mixture of silver, lead and liquefied sulphur. Magmatic fluids flood the surface, revealing the dark side of this dazzling sun. In this way, they break down the rigidity of pure formal geometries. This topology aims rather more at questioning the link with space than defining the spatiality of the volumes. The morbidity of the lead overshadows the vivacity of the gold.

A graduate of the Pietro Selvatico school in Padua, where he has been teaching now for the last three decades, the artist adopts this particularity of setting formal minimalism against abstraction and geometry against the warmth of the materials. Graziano Visintin was born in Pernumia in 1954, he lives and works in Padua. He has exhibited in Europe, Japan, the United States and Australia. He has won several prizes and his works may be found in numerous public and private collections.
